Dr. Al-Sabai Nashwan is a leading eye surgeon specializing in refractive and corneal surgery. He completed his medical studies in 2004, graduating with high distinction, and continued his education at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) and University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), where he specialized in ophthalmology. With a strong focus on innovation and precision, he has extensive experience in advanced surgery, including cataracts, refractive procedures and corneal transplants. Over the past 15 years, he has performed more than 10,000 eye surgeries, underscoring his vast expertise in the field.
Since 2014, Dr. Al-Sabai has been a refractive surgeon at the University Hospital of Antwerp (UZA), where he is a reference for all types of complicated refractive and challenging ophthalmic surgical procedures and regularly gives presentations. He is also active in providing training and presentations at national and international conferences.
Since 2019, Dr. Nashwan and Dr. Bart Pion are co-owners of the Focus Eye Clinic, where he applies innovative treatment techniques. He is also a board member of the Belgian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (BSCRS) and has been appointed general secretary of the BSCRS since 2024. He has built a strong reputation as a refractive and cataract surgeon and as a mentor for young ophthalmologists.
