Do you wear glasses but do not qualify for refractive laser treatment due to excessive correction? Through an ICL lens implantation or implantable contact lens, it is possible to remove glasses.
Treatment with ICL implant lenses
Step 1: Evaluation during screening
Your glasses-free life begins with a comprehensive eye examination and consultation with an ophthalmic surgeon during the initial screening. You will undergo a series of technical examinations in which the eye is completely mapped. To determine whether you are a suitable candidate for multifocal implant lenses, the doctor evaluates your refractive error and, of course, also takes into account your motivation, your profession and your hobbies. We ask that you not wear contact lenses for 5 days in order to take the most accurate measurements of the cornea.
Step 2: Preparation for surgery
You will be received by our qualified nursing staff. They will make the necessary preparations to get you ready for the procedure, such as the insertion of eye drops. The procedure is done under local anesthesia and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
You will be given a light sedative. Your eyes are numbed locally with drops. Therefore, you will not undergo anesthesia or general anesthesia.
You will be escorted to the operating room.
Your eye will be thoroughly disinfected and covered with a sterile dressing.
Your eyelashes are held aside and your eye is again numbed locally.
An eyelid retainer is placed so that you can no longer blink or squeeze your eyes shut.
Step 3 : The procedure itself
After dilation of the pupil, the lens is placed through a micro incision in the anterior chamber of the eye, just behind the iris.The lens is inserted through the small incision and will unfold in the eye. Afterwards, the micro incision is closed without wires.
Step 4: Enjoy life!
After surgery
One day after surgery, you can see well again and most people can soon function normally. Although it may still take a few weeks for vision to fully stabilize.Some patients may initially see halos around lights, especially at night. Thanks to the brain's habituation to the new lenses, these phenomena gradually disappear after a few weeks.
Aftercare
The treatment schedule with the eye drops is explained by the nursing team. You must apply medication eye drops for 1 month. Daily activities such as household chores, sports, driving and desk work can be resumed very soon. If in doubt, consult with your doctor.
Checkups:
1st checkup: one day after the procedure.
2nd examination: one week after the operation.
3rd examination: after one month.

Risks of ICL implant lenses.
Exceptionally, residual refraction is still present after placement of ICL lenses. If this is disturbing, we at Focus Eye clinic have the necessary laser equipment to neutralize and eliminate it.
The implantation of ICL lens implants is a routine intraocular surgery. As with any other surgery, there is always a risk. Therefore, our medical staff always takes the necessary measures to preventively combat any infections. Due to the meticulous preparation of the surgery, this is extremely rare.
Some patients are disturbed shortly after surgery by halos around lights in dark conditions. That effect is temporary. Most studies show that 93% of patients no longer describe halos after 6 months, and this is due to neuroadaptation.
