Can I use makeup after laser treatment?
After laser eye surgery, such as LASIK, PRK or SMILE ReLEx, it is important to be careful with eye makeup. Makeup can contain small particles or bacteria that can irritate the cornea and interfere with the healing process.
At Focus Eye Clinic, we recommend:
- No eye makeup (such as mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow) for one to two weeks.
- Avoid face and foundation makeup in the first few days to prevent particles from getting into the eyes.
- Gently cleanse the face without pressure on the eyes.
- Use new makeup after the recovery period to minimize the risk of bacteria.
Your eye doctor will indicate during your checkup appointment when you can safely restart makeup. Always follow the guidelines for a smooth recovery and optimal results.
