How long do you see blurry after cataract surgery?

After cataract surgery , the eye needs time to recover and get used to the new artificial lens. Most patients experience blurred or cloudy vision immediately after surgery, which usually improves gradually within a few days to weeks.

The duration of blurred vision depends on several factors:

- Individual recovery: Each eye heals at a different rate.

- Swelling of the cornea: This can temporarily cause blurred vision, especially with stronger cataracts.

- Residual strength or cylinder deviation: Small refractive differences can affect vision, and sometimes glasses are needed for optimal results.

- Dry eyes: Dryness may occur after surgery, making vision temporarily unstable.

- Secondary cataract: In rare cases, clouding of the lens capsule may occur after months or years, which can be easily corrected with YAG laser treatment.

Most patients experience marked improvement within 1 to 2 weeks and can return to normal daily activities. In some people, however, recovery may take longer, especially if there are additional eye conditions such as macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy.

At Focus Eye Clinic, recovery is closely monitored to ensure that any complications are detected and treated in a timely manner.
