Up to what age can you get your eyes lasered?
ij Focus Eye Clinic we do not have a strict upper limit for laser eye surgery, but suitability depends on the health of your eyes and the presence of age-related eye defects.
- Up to approximately 40-45 years of age: FEMTOLASIK, PRK or SMILE ReLEx are suitable options for myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism.
- After 45 years: Presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) begins to play a role, which may make laser eye surgery less effective. In this case, lens implantation (ICL or multifocal implant lenses) is a better choice.
- After 60: Laser eye surgery is often no longer the best option due to cataracts or other age-related eye diseases. Cataract surgery with an artificial lens implant may then offer a better alternative.
