What is the difference between lasek and lasik?
The main differences between LASEK and LASIK are in the way the cornea is treated and the recovery time:
- A flap is created in the cornea with a femtosecond laser.
- The excimer laser corrects the strength in the deeper layer of the cornea.
- Quick recovery: sharp vision often within 24-48 hours.
- Little pain after treatment.
- Not suitable for people with thin corneas or dry eyes.
2.LASEK (Laser-Assisted Subepithelial Keratectomy)=PRK
- The top layer of the cornea (epithelium) is temporarily pushed aside with an alcohol solution.
- The excimer laser adjusts the curvature of the cornea.
- Longer recovery: full recovery takes 1-2 weeks.
- More pain and light sensitivity in the first few days.
- Suitable for people with thin corneas or who play contact sports.
Both methods are effective, but the best choice depends on your eye health and lifestyle. Want to know which treatment is best for you? Schedule a consultation at Focus Eye Clinic.
